With a pending I485 based on marriage can you remain employed?

I had the receipt of the i485 that USCIS mailed to me. They sent me a temporary EAD - i never got it renewed while working because i was basically told they should get back to me on the green card decision before the EAD expires. It expires next month and my Job is in jeopardy! I know changing my job isn't an option..can i at least continue working?
