Do you HAVE to get a degree in Pre-Vet studies or Animal Sciences to be considered for Vet School?

I am a rising Senior in high school and am VERY interested in a career in Veterinary medicine. I was wondering for Undergrad, is it best to major in Animal Sciences or Biology etc. Vs majoring in something that is not animal or science related? Also would it be more beneficial to apply to colleges that do have Pre- Veterinary Studies over those that do not? I understand that you can major in anything you want for Pre-Med and still be on the Pre-Med track, is that the same for Pre-Veterinary? I just want to make sure I make all the right choices for Undergrad, so for when I apply to Vet School I will be prepared :)
